Apoteket App redesign

I started this research project because I wanted to expand on the learnings I have from researching the Swedish pharmacy app market this spring. Currently in Sweden there is only one app on the Apple AppStore that has a good user experience. It is also the only one that runs natively on the device, instead of running a web view in the app.

I chose the government owned pharmacy, Apoteket, and their app which is almost entirely web based, to try to redesign it for a better user experience.

Analysis of the current app

Overall, the current app carries the features that you look for. The problem that I found is that there are a few things in the app that are not very accessible. Because the app is relying on the website, a lot of components fail to scale to a user-friendly size that fits the phone format. The text is too small and menu items are hard to hit. There are also some inconsistencies when it comes to navigation and menu options that hide a lot of the features from the user.
